There are a number of reasons why people choose for inlays or onlays rather than standard fillings, in case you were wondering why. First of all, inlays and onlays may fit your tooth perfectly and adhere directly to its surface. Many patients prefer them because of their increased durability and security as a result of this bonding.
Because inlays and onlays may be matched to the patient's natural tooth color and the material is stain-resistant, meaning it is unlikely to discolor even with time, this is another reason why many patients select them.
The process will take place over two visits when you visit our clinic for an inlay or onlay installation. The tooth will be prepared at the first appointment. Following the tooth's preparation and shaping, an imprint will be made and sent to a dental lab for creation.
Until the lab delivers the permanent inlay or onlay, you will be given a temporary one to use in its stead. We will set up your second visit as soon as your new inlay or onlay arrives at our Cambridge dental office. If a temporary inlay or onlay was applied to your tooth, we will remove it when you return to our clinic. After being fitted to your tooth, the new, permanent onlay or inlay will be glued into place to provide a snug fit.
